Glazed Peaches In White Wine

ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
4 ripe but firm peaches -- peeled and halved
1 lemon
1/4 cup dry white wine
2 tablespoons sugar
directions
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add peaches, cut side down. Saute 2-3 minutes, or until they begin to brown; turn and saute another 2-3 minutes.
Remove the zest from the lemon with a vegetable peeler. Add the wine, sugar and lemon zest to the peaches. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for about 20 minutes.
Place the peach halves on serving plates, drizzle with syrup left in skillet. Serve with almond cookies.
