Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

I made two of these cakes in a bundt cake and out them together to form a jack-o-lantern. In order for the cake to turn out of the pan in (hopefully) one piece, it must be baked for 50 minutes and cooled at least 30 minutes in the pan before attempting turn-out.

I made this in a bundt pan that I coated with cinnamon and sugar. Because of this, I cut back on the cinnamon and increased the allspice in the recipe. I also made an apple cider glaze to serve with the cake that was the perfect finishing touch.
