ingredients
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
5 eggs
2 teaspoons flavoring of choice (see note*)
directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream together the butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each one.
Add flour, beat until smooth. Add flavoring.
Bake in a greased and floured fluted or tube pan for 55 to 60 minutes. Cracks in top should be dry.
Cool for about 15 to 20 minutes on rack, remove from pan and let it continue to cool on rack, if you flavored the cake with lemon zest you could make a lemon glaze and pour over the cake at this time.
Cook's Note: Possible flavorings include vanilla extract, lemon zest or extract, orange zest or extract, almond extract or 1 tsp nutmeg. I mainly use almond but they are all excellent flavorings for a pound cake)

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Make your mornings a little less hectic with these overnight breakfast recipes. Prep the night before and enjoy a warm, comforting meal in the morning.

what type of flour is used in this recipe?
Unless a recipe specifies otherwise, if it just says "flour" it's usually safe to assume that you should use all purpose flour.

Pretty good texture and good flavor. I used almond extract but think I'll go with a combination of almond and vanilla next time.
