This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.
Chocolate Strawberry Sandwiches
- add review
- #92742
1-2 hrs
ingredients
1 loaf (family size, frozen) pound cake
1/2 container fresh strawberries
1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
directions
Thaw the pound cake out completely, for approximately 1 hour. Once thawed, cut entire loaf into half-inch slices.
Heat oven on a low broil.
Cut strawberries into thin slices, discarding the tops.
At this point, spread the chocolate hazelnut spread over each piece of pound cake. Make a sandwich, layering one side with strawberries and covering with another piece, making sure the chocolate-covered sides are facing each other. Cut in half and place on a cookie sheet.
Once you have all the sandwiches made, place in the oven under the broiler until golden brown, approximately 6 minutes.
Serve warm with whip cream or just eat them plain. They are good either way.

They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.
