- add review
- #33026

ingredients
1 cup walnuts or pecans
1/4 cup brandy or dark rum
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons butter, plus more for greasing
1/4 teaspoon salt
directions
Soak nuts in liquor for an hour or so. Lightly grease a platter or baking sheet.
Melt the butter and add the nuts and liquor, and the maple syrup. Simmer, stirring constantly, until the liquid has almost entirely boiled away--the nuts will be sticky but no liquid will be visible.
Turn out onto the greased surface and spread thin. Sprinkle with salt while still warm. When cool, store in an airtight container.

Consider adding the nuts after the liquid has reduced somewhat; mine started to get soggy and I had to pop them in the oven for a few minutes to crisp them up again. Brandy flavor is strong; consider soaking for less than an hour if you want milder flavor.
