ingredients

1 1/2 quart green peanuts, raw and unshelled
1/2 cup salt
2 1/2 quarts water

directions

Rinse the peanuts until the water runs clear. Place the peanuts in the crock pot. Add the salt and water and mix well to dissolve the salt.

Cover the crock pot and cook on high heat for 3-5 hours or until the peanuts are tender. Additional water may be needed during the cooking time if there is excessive evaporation.

Drain off any remaining water before serving. Serve immediately.

Tastes just like the peanuts I used to buy from a street vendor. I had no idea how easy it was. Was glad I took a chance and tried this recipe.

Yeah, you can only be so hard on a recipe like this. If you live in the south, you know that you just can't mess around too much with these without wasting your time. Boiled, salted peanuts are exactly that: Peanuts, salt, boil. It's like trying to use fancy chocolate for a S'more. It just doesn't taste like the real thing.

easy to follow and understand...what was left out was common sense so it didn't need to be put in there!! my peanuts cooked from this recipe were wonderful!!

charlieb54 has never been through Georga because boiled peanuts are sold everwhere in the country. The peanuts are raw in the shell and warshed then boiled. 1 pound is about 1 1/2 quarts.

I only have 3 issues with this recipe: 1) peanuts are usually measured in ounces or pounds, especially for these kinds of recipes 2) no mention as to what size of slow-cooker is best for this recipe, and 3) most importantly, are the peanuts in the recipe shelled, or unshelled?
