We don't ever get tired of hummus, but it's always nice to try new kinds. Especially when they're as flavorful as this cilantro jalapeno variety with garlic, lime and spicy seeded peppers.

ingredients

2 cloves garlic
2 cans (15 ounce size) garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
3 tablespoons lime juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup olive oil
3/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and minced

directions

Place garlic in a food processor and process until minced, about 10 seconds. Add beans, lime juice and salt. Process into a puree.

With the processor running, slowly add olive oil in a steady stream through the feed tube. Process until mixture thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Add cilantro and jalapeno and pulse throughout, about 10 seconds. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before serving.

  1. JESSI REVIEW:

LOVE IT BUT ADDED MORE JALAPENO!

  2. Guest Foodie REVIEW:

This is really just bean dip since it doesn't have tahini but it's still good. Just not really a hummus recipe.

    • Hummus literally translates to "chickpea" so I think this recipe can definitely be considered hummus.

  3. shinkley REVIEW:

I hadn't seen a hummus recipe without tahini before but this was quite good. I might try adding a little next time to see if it improves it. Good recipe though.

  4. Sam REVIEW:

This was a great recipe. Instead of lime I used lemon juice. I used a little more juice than it called for and mine turned out amazing!!!! We put it one EVERYTHING!

  5. RealtorKrys REVIEW:

Made this recipe today. We buy the Publix brand far too often for our food budget. I added extra lime juice to give it an extra kick. Fantastic!

  6. Ellie REVIEW:

Made this recipe to the letter, and it was wonderful! It is best to let it sit overnight before serving. Thanks so much for sharing!

  7. Sarah REVIEW:

I went in search of this recipe after purchasing some jalepeno cilantro hummus from Trader Joe's. This didn't achieve that flavor exactly. I noticed there is no tahini in this recipe, but I didn't have any on hand, so I added a little bit of peanut butter and that helped. I'd also maybe put in some extra lime juice. Still, it's quick, easy, and tasty!

  8. Neophyte21 REVIEW:

Easy to make. Fantastic tasting. Easy to clean up. Hot damn!

  9. Jacob REVIEW:

My girlfriend is coming into town and this was a very helpful recipe. Not Only does she enjoy hummus but spicey foods also. Tastes Great! Though depending on the jalapenos' you selected it could be more spicy than your guest anticipated.
