INGREDIENTS:

2 cloves garlic
2 cans (15 ounce size) garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
3 tablespoons lime juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup olive oil
3/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and minced


DIRECTIONS:

Place garlic in a food processor and process until minced, about 10 seconds. Add beans, lime juice and salt. Process into a puree.

With the processor running, slowly add olive oil in a steady stream through the feed tube. Process until mixture thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Add cilantro and jalapeno and pulse throughout, about 10 seconds. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before serving.

This was a great recipe. Instead of lime I used lemon juice. I used a little more juice than it called for and mine turned out amazing!!!! We put it one EVERYTHING!

I went in search of this recipe after purchasing some jalepeno cilantro hummus from Trader Joe's. This didn't achieve that flavor exactly. I noticed there is no tahini in this recipe, but I didn't have any on hand, so I added a little bit of peanut butter and that helped. I'd also maybe put in some extra lime juice. Still, it's quick, easy, and tasty!

My girlfriend is coming into town and this was a very helpful recipe. Not Only does she enjoy hummus but spicey foods also. Tastes Great! Though depending on the jalapenos' you selected it could be more spicy than your guest anticipated.
