Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Want something gross but tasty to serve for Halloween? This ground beef and rice casserole looks just like what you might find the cat has left you in the litter box.
1 cup Bisquick baking mix
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 pound ground beef
2 cups long grain rice
3 3/4 cups water
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the baking mix, shredded cheese, and raw ground beef. Form the mixture into tootsie-roll shaped logs of different sizes.
Place the logs in a baking pan in a single layer and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until cooked. If they are getting too brown you can turn them over during the cook time.
Remove from the oven and let cool on paper toweling (they will be a little greasy).
Meanwhile, bring the rice, water, salt, and butter to a boil in a saucepan. Cover and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for 15 minutes or until rice is cooked.
Spread the cooked rice in a clean baking dish (or new litter box) and place the beef logs on top in random order. Serve with a new kitty litter scoop for added effect! Serve hot.

Ranking #1 in nearly every "favorite cookie" poll, the chocolate chip cookie is pretty much the go-to cookie of choice for both kids and grownups alike.
This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

Made this for a Halloween party last year, was a big hit! Looks great, and very tasty. Used mixed grain rice with veggies in it for color. Making this for Halloween breakfast tomorrow with sausage!
