An easy-to-make recipe for sweet potatoes. It only takes a few minutes to prep, then the crockpot does the rest of the work, yielding a sweet holiday side dish.
6 sweet potatoes
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup applesauce
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into 1-inch cubes. Place in the crock pot.
Combine the brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and applesauce in a small bowl and mix well. Pour the applesauce mixture over the sweet potato cubes and mix gently.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 3-4 hours or until the sweet potatoes are tender.
When ready to serve, melt the remaining butter in a small skillet over medium-low heat. Add the chopped pecans and cook, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes.
Serve the sweet potatoes topped with the buttery pecan mixture.

I like to think this recipe is healthier than the traditional Thanksgiving sweet potatoes--and with a more grown up taste. Everyone loved them! I'm not a good cook, but these are essentially foolproof!

Wow--I made these as a last minute item when I couldn't find the ones in the box. They were delicious. I mixed them up, cooked them in the microwave for four minutes, then dumped them in the crock pot for two hours. Everyone raved about them.
P.S. The pecans were a very tasty finish, a must have for every bite!

This recipe was just awesome, leftovers were even better the next day. I cooked this recipe in the oven at 375 degrees for an hour because I did'nt have time to do the crock pot version. The combination of the apple sauce, brown sugar, cinnanmon, and butter was the perfect match up for sweet potatoes. I'll make this dish every "Turkey Time". Thanks!

very easy recipe, i cut my potatoes the night before so in the morning i added the rest of the ingredients and turned it on. everyone (33 people) said they were the best sweet potatoes they ever had. i did not add the pecans because my husband does not like them.
