The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

These fractured tacos are somewhere in the tasty middle of tacos and nachos. Spiced ground beef on tortilla chips can be dressed up with any number of your Mexican favorites to craft a shareable platter.
Spicy Meat Mixture
1 pound ground beef
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 can (7 ounce size) diced green chiles, drained
1 can (8 ounce size) tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large bag tortilla chips or strips
Garnishes and Condiments
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 cup salsa
1 can (2.25 ounce size) ripe olives, drained and chopped
1 cup sour cream
1 avocado, sliced
OR
1 cup guacamole
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until the onion is soft.
Stir in the green chiles, tomato sauce, cumin, coriander, and salt. Mix well. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to a low simmer and let cook for 10 minutes.
To serve, place a layer of tortilla chips on each dinner plate. Top as desired with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, onion, salsa, olives, sour cream, guacamole, etc. Serve the fractured tacos immediately.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

A delicious taco salad. I've been trying to reduce my sodium a little, so I went light on the tortilla chips and put in extra lettuce for my serving. All the fresh ingredients really made a big difference for this great dinner.
