The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

We made this at the Assisted Living Facility and the residents LOVED it! They all took the recipe to send to friends and relatives. @ differences - we substituted crushed chiles and added the cheese all at the same time and baked. Excellent! Thank you!

I have been making this for about 20 years- it is a family and company favorite. People rave about it. It is also pretty flexible- you can substitute ingredients, doubles and triples with ease. In a pinch I have substituted peperoncini peppers for the green chili, and it wasn't noticeable. Try this- it's great! My copy of the recipe came with a suggestion to serve it with Baja Chicken- also a Nancy Reagan recipe-they're fabulous together!
