ingredients
4 medium oranges
water
2 cups sugar
2 cups vodka
directions
Squeeze juice from the oranges. Reserve the peel from one orange. With a sharp knife scrape the white membrane from the reserved peel and cut the peel into very thin strips. Add enough water to orange juice to make 2 cups.
In a saucepan combine orange juice mixture, orange peel and sugar. Bring to boiling, then reduce heat and simmer over low heat five minutes.
Cool mixture and pour into a large jar. Stir in vodka or rum. Cover with the lid and let stand at room temperature for 3 to 4 weeks. Strain liqueur.

They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).
