It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

A traditional gimlet is made with gin, but this version is made with vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup.

ice
2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup (see note)
Fill a shaker with ice. Add vodka, lime juice and simple syrup. Shake well and strain into a highball glass over ice cubes.
Note: Simple syrup is made by combining 2 parts granulated sugar with 1 part water. Simmer, stirring, over low heat, until sugar is dissolved. Chill before using.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.
