ingredients
3 tablespoons shortening
2 pounds round steak
1 large tomato
1 medium sliced onion
2 bell peppers, sliced
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
directions
Trim fat from meat and cut into 1-inch pieces. Melt shortening in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat. Add meat. Cover and simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add salt, pepper, garlic, cumin and cayenne. Stir, cover and simmer 10 minutes. Cut onion and peppers into slices, stir into meat; cover. When onion is tender, add cut-up tomatoes. Simmer 10-15 minutes and serve
