Hong Kong Pepper Steak

A creamy take on traditional Asian-style pepper steak. Tender beef is slow-simmered in a cream of mushroom and soy sauce mixture.
30-60 minutes
ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 pound round steak, cut in 1-inch strips
1 cup thinly sliced celery
1 cup chopped bell pepper
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 can (10 ounce size) cream of mushroom soup
1 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
1 can (4 ounce size) sliced mushrooms, undrained
directions
Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the round steak and cook, stirring frequently, until browned.
Add the celery and bell pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, for 1-2 more minutes.
Add the water, garlic salt, green onions, black pepper, soup, and soy sauce. Mix well to combine.
Cover the skillet and cook the pepper steak at a low simmer for 30-45 minutes or until the beef is tender.
Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes or until heated through.
Serve over egg noodles or rice.
