Do the chops have to be completely cover w/the liquid? How is the gravy made that one commenter mentioned, does the liquid thicken up even though there is no thickener?

    • The chops do not have to be completely covered with liquid. The crock pot creates steam while it heats so the meat will stay tender even with only a small amount of liquid added. The liquid will create a sauce but if you'd like it thicker you can stir in a cornstarch slurry about 15 minutes before serving.

Just a question. I'd like to try this. Does it matter if the pork chop has a bone or not?

I brown the chops first becuase I like the texture better. I cook on low for 4-5 hours and they are done. maybe the thickness of the chops is different.

I love making this meal! It is super simple and with so few ingredients it is a snap. I don't brown my chops before I put them in the Crockpot. I do brown them in a skillet with a little bit of the juice before I take them to the table. It gives them a beautiful color!

This has been my favorite "go to" recipe for some time. I have NEVER shared with anyone who did not love it! I never brown the chops, nor add vegs. The only difference is I add a small can ck broth (instead of just a cup)and stick with the onion soup mix. The gravy is awesome and we love to use it with mashed potatoes.

Truly Awesome. I used onion mushroom package soup. Also a can of mushroom. I love mushroom. Also I browned each chop for 5 minutes on each side before adding to slow cooker. Cooked for 5 hours and the chops were done and very tender.

  7. Max REVIEW:

Most definitely brown the chops first. Helps the flavor and presentation. Didn't brown them the first time I tried, and ended up turning the bland pale looking mess into a heap of pulled pork with BBQ sauce.

This was aweful, not awesome. I waste of pork chops. I now know why they call for most chops to be browned first. After 10 hours on low, they were still a little pink on the underside. I even added potatoes, too. The taste was a bit too bland!

    • If the chops weren't done after 10 hours, then something might be wrong with your crockpot! Also, the recipe doesn't call for potatoes, so that may have thrown off your cooking time.

  9. Shainie REVIEW:

This gives the porkchops a lot of flavor. I also like to add small red potatoes and carrots to make a complete meal.
