8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 quart strawberry ice cream, softened
1/2 cup Miracle Whip salad dressing
2 cans (17 ounce size) fruit cocktail or cherries, drained
1/3 cup chopped nuts

directions

Combine the cream cheese, ice cream, and salad dressing in a mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended.

Add the fruit cocktail and nuts and fold them in by hand. Pour the mixture into a 9-inch square pan.

Cover the pan with foil and place in the freezer until firm (2-3 hours).

Keep frozen until ready to serve.

recipe tips

Try different types of nuts.

Add a splash of vanilla extract or almond extract for extra flavor.

For a sweeter version, sprinkle some sugar over the fruit cocktail before mixing.

Try adding mini marshmallows for a fun twist on the classic recipe.

To make a lighter version, use light or low-fat cream cheese and ice cream.

For a festive touch, garnish with fresh mint leaves or edible flowers before serving.

If the fruit salad is too hard to scoop, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly.

For a tropical flavor, use mango or pineapple ice cream instead of strawberry.
