Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Nothing creepier than having your Halloween cookies staring back at you! Don't be afraid to take a bite, they are delicious!
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cup peanut butter
1 pound powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
12 ounces white almond bark
Combine the butter and peanut butter in a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed until creamy and uniform in color.
With the mixer running, slowly add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix until combined.
Shape the cookie dough into 1-inch balls and place on a wax paper lined tray or plate. Place the tray in the refrigerator and chill for 30 minutes.
Break up the white almond bark and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 60 seconds then stir. Microwave, stirring every 15 seconds, until the candy is melted and smooth.
Using a toothpick to hold the cookies, dip each "eyeball" into the melted candy coating leaving a small circle uncoated on the top (for the pupil).
Place the dipped cookies on waxed paper and let dry. Store the cookies in an airtight container.
Make sure the cookies are well-chilled before dipping them in the melted candy coating to prevent them from falling apart.
If the candy coating starts to harden while dipping, microwave for a few seconds to remelt.
Get creative with different color combinations and decorations to personalize your eyeball cookies.
Use edible markers to draw pupils and other eye details for a more detailed look.
White almond bark is a confectionery coating made from vegetable fats, sugar, and artificial flavors that mimics the taste and texture of real chocolate.
You can use white or dark chocolate as a substitute for almond bark, but the flavor and texture will be different.
You can use sunflower butter or another nut-free spread in place of the peanut butter for a nut-free version of these cookies.
The candy coating will harden within 30 minutes to an hour depending on the temperature of your kitchen.
You can add food coloring to the melted candy coating to create different colored eyeballs or add decorative designs. We recommend using food color paste instead of liquid.
Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If the weather is warm, you may need to store them in the refrigerator.
Yes, these cookies can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
You can use a small tube of red icing or a small dot of red decorating gel to create bloodshot veins on the eyeballs for a more realistic look.
Use flat toothpicks or paddle toothpicks to hold the cookies for dipping to prevent them from rolling around.
Mixing Bowl: For combining the butter and peanut butter, as well as for mixing in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
Electric Mixer or Hand Mixer: To beat the butter and peanut butter mixture on medium speed until well combined.
Measuring Cups and Spoons: For measuring out the peanut butter and vanilla extract (and butter if not using stick butter).
Wax Paper: To line the tray or plate for placing the cookie dough balls and to let the dipped cookies dry without sticking.
Tray or Plate: To hold the cookie dough balls as they chill in the refrigerator and to place the dipped cookies while they set.
Microwave-Safe Bowl: For breaking up and melting the white almond bark in the microwave.
Toothpicks: Used to hold the cookies while dipping them into the melted almond bark. You can also use a candy dipping fork if you have one (but no need to go buy one just for this recipe).
Ambience: Set the scene with some spooky dry ice fog. Strategically place the fog in various areas of the party for the best affect.
Creepy Cocktail: Serve a fun radioactive punch that matches the Halloween vibe.
Spooky Cheese Board: Create a charcuterie board with cheeses that have interesting textures and flavors, such as sharp cheddar or creamy brie. Use Halloween cookie cutters to cut out spooky shapes.
Garnish with Edible Glitter: Adding a sprinkle of edible glitter or Halloween-themed sprinkles can boost the cookies visually. They will catch the light and look enchanting on a spooky dessert table.

I was surprised at how easy the recipe was! The kids had fun shaping the eyeballs and I added a bit of icing on the top for the pupil. Very creative and perfect for a Halloween treat!
