Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Use this Asian-style sauce on beef, pork, or chicken. Works well as a marinade or baste while grilling.

1 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 green onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons dark sesame oil
1 clove minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
1/8 teaspoon MSG, optional
Combine the sesame seeds, red pepper flakes, and black pepper in a mortar. Use the pestle to grind them together. Transfer the mixture to a zip-top bag or shallow container.
Add the remaining ingredients to the seed mixture and mix well.
To use: Add meat as desired (beef, pork, chicken) to the sauce and turn well to coat in the sauce. Marinate the meat in the refrigerator for 8-24 hours.
Remove the meat from the marinade and grill as desired. The sauce can be doubled and a portion reserved to baste the meat while grilling.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
This Italian cheese is so versatile that it can be used in both sweet and savory recipes from cheesecakes to lasagnas.
