Kenny Rogers' Barbecue Sauce

Kenny Rogers Roasters, a chain of roasted chicken restaurants started by musician Kenny Rogers, was well known for their special BBQ sauce.

ingredients

1 cup water
1/3 cup white vinegar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
6 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons bottled red hot sauce

directions

Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Process in pulse mode until smooth and combined.

Transfer the barbecue sauce to a saucepan. Cook on medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.

Remove the pan from the heat and let cool. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The barbecue sauce can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
