It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

This Cajun BBQ sauce takes its sweet time on the stove, simmering for a couple hours to get the flavors just right. Quality just can't be rushed.

1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon paprika
4 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
1 medium onion, minced
1 cup tomato puree
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup boiling water
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar.
Reduce the heat to a simmer. Let cook for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is very thick.
Use immediately, or let cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
