A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.
Flavored Sugar Syrup Base

ingredients
6 tablespoons sugar
2/3 cup water
3 tablespoons liqueur of your choice
directions
In a saucepan with a tight fitting lid, combine the sugar and water and bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Cover immediately, remove from the heat and cool completely.
Transfer to a measuring cup and stir in the liqueur. If the syrup has evaporated slightly, add enough water to equal 1 cup syrup. If multiplying this base for a larger quantity, add water to equal the appropriate amount.
Use this wherever you need a simple syrup base (drink mixes, icings, etc.).
