- #61784
under 30 minutes
ingredients
1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt, divided
1 pound round steak, cut into serving pieces
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 ounces sliced canned mushrooms, drained
1/4 cup minced onion
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 tablespoon dried parsley
directions
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Combine the flour, pepper, and half of the salt in a shallow dish. Dredge the steak in the flour, shaking off any excess. Add the meat to the hot oil and cook, turning as needed, until browned on both sides.
Add the mushrooms, onion, water, and remaining salt to the skillet. Mix well. Cover the skillet and cook for 10 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat. Stir the sour cream, butter, and parsley into the sauce. Serve hot.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
