Drink
1 orange, juiced
1 lemon, juiced
3/4 cup black cherry juice
2 ounces cherry liqueur
2 ounces white rum
2 ounces orange simple syrup (see recipe)
1 slice (1/2 inch size) orange, cut in half
1 slice (1/2 inch size) lemon, cut in half
Orange Simple Syrup
1 orange, juiced
water
1 cup white sugar
For Simple Syrup: In a small sauce pan combine sugar, juice of 1 orange and enough water when added to orange juice to make 1 cup. Over med-low heat stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat to cool. Store this in a airtight container (I use squeezy bottles) in the refrigerator.
For Drink: In a sauce pan combine orange and lemon juice, black cherry juice, cherry liqueur, white rum and 2 ounces of the orange simple syrup. Over medium heat stir until hot.
Put a half slice of orange and lemon in each clear Irish coffee mug and fill with hot mixture.
It was really chilly and rainy this evening and I was staring at a very expensive jar of Black Cherry Juice. It is a good one that is not watered down. I wanted some but needed something to warm me up. We eat cherries hot in pie and my husband had found out by accident that the Cherry Pie Liqueur is awesome heated up by itself, so I came up with this and the color was so beautiful and sexy that it became the Red Hot Mama!
