Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Ham Loaf
3/4 pound ground pork
3/4 pound ground ham
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup fine soft bread crumbs
salt and pepper, to taste
Glaze
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup white vinegar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the ground pork, ground ham, beaten egg, milk, bread crumbs, and salt and pepper as desired until well mixed. Shape into a loaf shape and place in a roasting pan or baking dish.
Combine the brown sugar, mustard, water, and vinegar until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the top of the ham loaf.
Cover the baking dish with foil and place in the oven. Bake at 350 degrees F for one hour and 15 minutes, basting the loaf with the glaze every 15 minutes. Serve hot.
