3 cups ground cooked ham
8 ounces bulk pork sausage

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 egg, slightly beaten

recipe tips

Add a different glaze or sauce on top of the ham loaf before serving for a different flavor.

Try adding diced bell peppers or shredded cheese to the ham mixture for added flavor.

For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes to the ham mixture. Or, use hot Italian sausage in place of plain pork sausage.

common recipe questions

Can I use ground beef instead of pork sausage?

Yes, ground beef can be substituted for pork sausage if desired, though the flavor and texture of the dish may be slightly different.

What can I use as a substitute for oats?

Breadcrumbs can be used as a substitute for oats in this recipe to help bind the ingredients together.

How can I add more flavor to the ham loaf?

Try different seasonings such as garlic powder, paprika, or thyme to enhance the flavor of the ham loaf to suit your tastes.

Can I make ham loaf ahead of time?

Yes, the ham loaf can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to cook. This can help develop the flavors before cooking.

How should I store leftovers?

Leftover ham loaf can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. It can also be frozen for longer storage.

How do I reheat the ham loaf?

The ham loaf can be reheated in the microwave or oven until heated through. Cover with foil to prevent the loaf from drying out.

I don't have a loaf pan that fits in my crock pot, what can I use?

You can use a different heat-proof container that holds at least 6 cups of volume. If using a shallower dish, you may need to adjust the cooking time as it may cook faster than in a loaf pan.
