Honey Barbecue Sauce

ingredients
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 medium onion, very finely diced
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
directions
Combine the butter and onion in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring for 4-5 minutes, or until the onion is soft.
Stir in the ketchup and water until blended. Add the honey, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Stir well then bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook, uncovered, for 5 more minutes.
Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

i have used this recipe many times, always a winner..but..i also add a little brown sugar,& lemon..(just a waving whisper) it always recieves rave reviews love your site...love the puzzles

I also added 4 tsp of minced garlic, 1/8 cup of brown sugar, 2 tbs mustard powder, and a couple drops of lemon juice. The recipe was good before, but in my opinion this made it rock!
