This garlic butter is dangerous, whether you're using it as a steak topping or otherwise. Garlicky steaks are just the tip of the iceberg. The butter makes a decadent spread that makes toasted baguettes or oven-baked naan irresistible.

3 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
1/4 pound unsalted butter
Combine the garlic and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the butter is melted and the garlic has started to soften. Do not let the garlic get brown or the sauce will be bitter.
Use the sauce over hot, cooked steak. It also makes a good bread dip or drizzle for fresh-popped popcorn.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
