The classic version of pigs in a blanket. Great as a snack or party appetizer. So quick and easy to make, and everyone always loves them! You can also use refrigerated crescent roll dough instead of biscuits, just cut each dough triangle into thirds for the recipe.

serves/makes:

ready in:
  under 30 minutes

ingredients

1 package (8 count size) hot dogs cut in halves, or Lil Smokies
1 can (8 count size) refrigerated biscuit dough (get the southern kind, not the flaky ones)

directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (or temperature listed on the package of biscuit dough).

Open the can of biscuits and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit with a rolling pin or the greased bottom of a glass. Cut each biscuit in half.

Place one hot dog half on each biscuit half and bring the sides up around the hot dog.

Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F (or temperature listed) for 13-15 minutes or until the biscuits are light brown.

Serve the hot dogs in a blanket with mustard or ketchup for dipping.

recipe tips

Make sure the dough is evenly flattened so it bakes evenly.

Place the dogs seam side down on the baking sheet to prevent them from opening while baking.

Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet so they brown evenly.

Brush the dough with melted butter or an egg wash before baking for a golden crust.

Serve hot for the best results.

Try different types of hot dogs, like beef, turkey, or chicken.

For a spicier version, use hot links or add a dash of hot sauce inside each wrap.

If using crescent dough, make sure to seal the edges well to contain the hot dog.

Offer a variety of dipping sauces for guests to choose from.

Enjoy these as a fun snack, party appetizer, or a kid-friendly meal.
