Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.
A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

To make this recipe a 5, use corned beef from your local deli in place of the Ham. And use a good firm loaf of seedless rye in place of the pumpernickel. If you can't find Beau Monde, just omit. It makes little difference. This dip is just as addictive without it.
