A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

Cream cheese, ground sausage, and a can of tomatoes with green chiles combine for a dip that'll make you embrace the simple life.
1 package (16 ounce size) sage flavored ground pork sausage
2 packages (8 ounce size) cream cheese, softened
1 can (10 ounce size) diced tomatoes & green chiles, undrained
Place the sausage in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the sausage is browned. Drain off any excess grease.
Add the cream cheese and tomatoes with the liquid from the can. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring frequently, until the cream cheese is melted and creamy.
Serve the dip warm with tortilla chips or other sturdy dippers.
For an even creamier dip, you can mix in a little sour cream or mayonnaise with the cream cheese.
Cube the cream cheese before adding to the skillet so it melts quicker and more evenly.
If the dip is too thick, you can thin it with a little milk or chicken broth as needed.
Cooking the sausage with a dash of garlic powder or smoked paprika can add another layer of flavor.
Serve the dip in a bread bowl for an edible and impressive presentation at parties.
This dip is perfect for a slow cooker. After browning and draining the sausage, transfer it to the slow cooker. Add the cream cheese and diced tomatoes with green chiles. Cook on low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until everything is melted and blended together. Keep the dip on the warm setting during serving.
You can add other cheeses for more flavor, if desired. Try stirring in shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese after the cream cheese has melted for added richness and a flavor kick.
To make the dip spicier, choose a hot version of the diced tomatoes with green chiles, add chopped jalapenos, or a few dashes of hot sauce to taste.
This dip pairs well with a variety of dippers. Try serving it with sliced baguette, pretzels, vegetable sticks (like carrots, celery, or bell peppers), or sturdy crackers.
Yes, adding vegetables can introduce more flavors and textures. Try sauteeing diced onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms with the sausage. Spinach is another great addition; stir it in until wilted just before serving.
Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until warm and creamy. You may need to add a splash of milk or water to thin it out if it's too thick.
While cream cheese-based dips can be frozen, the texture might change upon thawing, becoming less creamy. If you decide to freeze it, use a freezer-safe container and thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Reheat slowly on the stove, stirring well, and possibly adding more cream cheese to improve the texture.

OMG the comment about doubleing the recipe and calling it a "double wide" cracked me up! I love this dip. Looks horrific but once you eat it you don't care. SOO good.

This recipe RULES, it is always a smash at all oour gatherings. People actually REQUEST this, and it takes almost no time to make. Best served w/ sturdy chips or crackers(Fritos Scoops or Triscuits). For parties we make extra, or as we call it a "double wide" batch.
