ingredients

5 cups corn flakes cereal
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
5 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup peanut butter

directions

Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place the cornflakes in a heat-proof bowl.

Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and cocoa powder in a heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil then remove the pan from the heat.

Stir the peanut butter into the cocoa mixture, mixing until the peanut butter is fully incorporated.

Pour the peanut butter mixture over the cornflakes, mixing gently until they are well coated in the mixture. Transfer the cornflake cookie mixture to the greased baking dish, spreading it gently to the edges.

Let the choco-butter cornflake cookie cool before breaking into pieces. Store the cookie in an airtight container.

  1. lissy REVIEW:

I was looking for a recipe that was quick and easy with little ingredients and hopefully ones that i already had in the house.... my fiance has a sweet tooth and this appealed to him. all i had to buy was the corn syrup. The taste is ok not great but it settles a sweet tooth. i may have done something wrong because it turned out like almost set up tar for roads which made it very hard to mix with the corn flakes. the batch looked perfect until i added the peanut butter.... I may make this again and maybe try melting the peanut butter before adding but i doubt i will waste my time... its not a horrible recipe but it is not one that will be passed along to friends or family.... sorry

    • Sounds like maybe the mixture boiled too long. You need to just bring it to a boil then remove it from the heat. Otherwise it may set up too quickly.
