1/4 cup dried minced onion
2 tablespoons instant beef bouillon
1/2 teaspoon onion powder


Combine all together. This makes the equivalent of 1 package soup mix.

Packaged onion soup mix can add too much salt to some recipes. By making your own version at home you can control the sodium. Try using low-sodium beef bouillon granules in place of all or part of the regular kind, depending on what you are making with the mix. This will store in an airtight container for several months. One note, however, this recipe makes about 6 tablespoons. One envelope of Lipton Onion Soup Mix is only about 4 tbsp.

I make this and keep it on hand using low sodium beef boullon granules and it's a healthier version of the packaged stuff.

Very good! I made onion dip and everyone loved it. All the taste without the MSG.
