A great make-ahead recipe. Simply fill the sliced bread with a garlic butter spread and freeze until you are ready to bake it.

1 loaf french bread
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
aluminum foil
Slice the French bread into 1-inch slices, cutting almost through (the slices should remain attached) to the bottom.
Combine the softened butter and garlic powder until completely blended. Carefully spread the butter between the slices of bread.
Tightly wrap the garlic bread in 2 layers of aluminum foil and store in the freezer for up to 2 months or until ready to use.
To cook the garlic bread: Do not thaw it. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Remove the foil from the bread and place the frozen garlic bread on a baking sheet. Place in the oven and bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes or until heated through.
Serve hot.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
