Mako shark has a slightly sweet, meaty taste which is perfectly balanced with the herb-butter sauce that it's baked in.

ingredients

2 pounds mako shark steaks (or mahi mahi), rinsed in cold water and patted dry
4 cloves garlic
1 medium onion, chopped
1 lemon or lime, cut into wedges
1 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon marjoram
1/4 teaspoon seafood seasonings
1/8 teaspoon thyme
salt, to taste
freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
fresh parsley, chopped
1 pinch ground oregano

directions

Melt butter in saucepan over low heat and add whole garlic, onions, seasonings and herbs. Remove from heat and allow to steep (one hour).

Place mako steaks in a baking dish and pour herb butter over fish. Cook at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes or until the fish is cooked and can be flaked with a fork and serve garnished with parsley and with lemon or lime wedges to the side.

for those of you who didnt like the shark... it was the type of shark that was bad Mako shark is delish moist mild and tender Thresher or Black tip is horrible and sold more so as it is cheap

  2. two2manyboats REVIEW:

sauce was great....fish was like a piece of rubber and could not be cut with a knife.....yes we followed recipe exactly.....forget shark...use the recipe on any white flake fish like grouper or any another bland white fish

    • If the fish was tough it means it was undercooked. You should always test for doneness first and adjust the cooking time as needed.

  3. Cynthia REVIEW:

I thought it was ok but I think that it wasn't' the recipe itself that was just ok. I wasn't super excited about the fish itself. Husband and son both liked it a lot. Will try again maybe with a different fish.

Absolutely delicious!!!! Better than any gourmet restaurant could serve. Added fresh basil and a touch of soy sauce to onion mixture and a dash of white wine. baked for 30 min if steak is thicker--

Restaurant quality recipe. My husband was thrilled. I added 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes as we like our food a little spicier.

  6. Sandy REVIEW:

I made the herb butter but I grilled the shark and basted with the butter mixture. My husband really loved this meal. I served with brown rice and grill asparagus. Will make this meal again. Will also use the herb butter mixture for other fish too. Enjoy!!!
