Sweet apple-raisin sauce with a hint of cinnamon is a marvelous match for savory ham.
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
1 dash salt
1 dash ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cup apple juice or cider
1/2 cup raisins
1 tablespoon butter
pineapple slices, cut in half
maraschino cherries, drained and cut in half
Combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cinnamon in a saucepan. Mix well to combine. Place over medium heat and slowly whisk in the apple juice until the mixture is blended.
Add the raisins. Cook, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes or until the mixture begins to thicken.
Stir in the butter and cook over medium heat until the butter is melted.
Add the sliced pineapple or cherries. Pour the gravy over ham before serving.
