Combine the ketchup and beer in a crock pot. Mix well, cover, and turn the crock pot to high, and allow the mixture to simmer while you make the meatballs.
In a bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, and chopped onion. Mix well and form into meatballs about 3/4-inch in diameter.
Place the meatballs in a 9x13 baking dish. Place the dish in the oven and bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes or until well browned. Remove the meatballs from the dish with a slotted spoon and add to the crock pot. Gently stir to coat the meatballs in the sauce.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 2-3 hours or until the sauce has thickened.
Serve the meatballs as an appetizer or over pasta or on buns for a meatball sandwich.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
