2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup rice
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 can (16 ounce size) tomatoes, crushed with wooden spoon
1/4 cup vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
2 teaspoons chili powder
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
Combine meat, rice, onion, egg, and salt. Form into 2 inch meatballs. Brown in hot skillet until cooked on all sides. Place in crockpot.
Mix remaining ingredients and pour over meatballs. Cook on low 4 to 6 hours or on high 2 to 3 hours. Stir occasionally.

This recipe is almost there. First, you need 32 oz of crushed tomatoes (I used fire roasted and rotele) and you need minced onions in the sauce! The other missing ingredient is garlic (I used 1 T powder). I used 1/3 c dark brown sugar. Slightly up the chili powder, paprika. I used an immersion blender to smooth the sauce after it cooked with the meatballs. Just pull the meatballs out with tongs shaking as much tomato back in that you can and blend. Then return the meatballs to the sauce. I served over homemade mac n cheese. I can also see this over fried polenta.
