Spiced Apple Rings

ingredients
6 medium firm apples
1 1/2 cup sugar, or sugar substitute to equal
2 cinnamon sticks
3 whole cloves
1 1/2 cup cranberry juice, unsweetened
1/4 cup lemon juice
directions
Wash and core apples; slice unpeeled into thick slices. Place in flat pan. Combine remaining ingredients, and boil 5 minutes. Reserve 1/4 cup juice mixture, and set aside. Pour remaining juice mixture over apple slices.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes or until apples slices appear transparent; baste occasionally with the 1/4 cup juice mixture.
Serve hot or cold as a garnish for your salad or by itself.
