Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

The potato spears were very easy to make. If you wish, you can use other seasonings to vary the flavor. You can also cut them into other shapes, but just make sure to adjust the cooking time if the pieces are thicker. The variety in color between the sweet and regular potatoes was very attractive and made for a more exciting dish than just regular fries. We served these with Caribbean Turkey Burgers.
