30-60 minutes
ingredients
4 small sweet potatoes (each about 1/2 lb and 6 inches long), scrubbed, patted dry
5 tablespoons soy sauce
5 tablespoons sake
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 green onions (white and green parts), finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
directions
Preheat barbecue to medium-high. Oil grill. Place potatoes on direct heat. Cover and grill until tender but not mushy, 20 to 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, make dipping sauce by whisking together remaining ingredients in small bowl until sugar dissolves. Serve alongside hot potatoes. (You may have sauce left over.)

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
