- add review
- #28666
30-60 minutes
ingredients
1 cake (see notes below)
1 egg shell
bourbon
2 sugar cubes
directions
NOTE: This recipe is not to be made without adult supervision at all times as it contains a live flame.
Make a three-dimensional ghost (Wilton makes a ghost cake pan making a white cake with white or marshmallow frosting) or create your own three-dimensional ghoul head cake and frost like Frankenstein.
Add "burning eyes" that smolders as the evening goes on.
Use two halves of a cleaned and dried eggshell. Place one eggshell half into each area where the eye is suppose to be. Fill each eggshell about one quarter of the way with bourbon and add one sugar cube to each eggshell.
Carefully (adults only) light the bourbon and ensure it is a small flame; if flame is too large, dump out some of the liquor.
Ensure that there is nothing flammable around your flaming eye cake, such as streamers, balloons, hanging decorations, table centerpieces, paper goods, plastics, and so on.
Place your cake on an aluminum cookie sheet that you've lined with aluminum foil and be sure the egg shells are set DEEP into the cake so that anyone bumping the table will not knock the egg shells out of the cake. ADULT SUPERVISION ONLY!

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
