The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

How can you go wrong with chocolate chip banana scones? Delicious for breakfast or afternoon tea.
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons cold butter, cut in pieces
1/2 cup mashed banana
1/3 cup buttermilk
1 cup chocolate chips
granulated sugar, as needed
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet.
Combine the flour, oats, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the butter and cut into the flour mixture using a pastry blender.
Mix together the banana and buttermilk until smooth. Stir into the flour mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips, mixing the dough just until moistened. Knead the dough 10 times, then turn it out onto a lightly floured work surface.
Pat the dough into a 6-inch circle. Sprinkle the dough lightly with sugar then cut it into 6-8 wedges. Place the wedges 1-inch apart on the baking sheet.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake at 425 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove the scones from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Store the scones in an airtight container.

I just found this recipe last night and tried it the next day, it was really good, A+, 5 Star! Easy and the outcome is fabulous. My family liked it and I'll make sure it will be on the table when I call my girlfriends for coffee or tea. Thanks for sharing!

I just got done making these and I had to eat one to try them. Then I had to make a second batch! They are wonderful. Very good and so easy! The only adjustments I made were a little more mashed bananas and doubled the cinnamon. I took them out of the oven about three minutes before they were done and brushed them with some butter and then sprinkled sugar and cinnamon on them. The result? Picture perfect! Thanks so much for this great recipe.

I LOVE this recipe! Since I found it last week, I have made it almost every day. I use 5T and 1 tsp of Carapelli Sauteing + Baking Olive Oil instead of butter. I reduce the chocolate chips to 1/2 cup and add 1/4 cup of pecans. I use whole grain flours. THANK YOU for sharing this recipe.
