A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

What better way to accompany your afternoon tea than with a fresh-baked scone (or six)? Infused with lemon zest, they're excellent with a matching citrus glaze drizzled on top for an extra zing of sweetness.
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons grated lemon peel
1/2 cup butter (cut into 1/2-inch pieces)
2 eggs, beaten to blend
2/3 cup milk or buttermilk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease and flour baking sheet.
Sift flour, sugar and salt in deep bowl. Stir in peel. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Blend in eggs and just enough milk or buttermilk to form soft but not sticky dough. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Gently roll or pat dough to about 1/2-inch thickness, lightly flouring as necessary to prevent sticking.
Cut out rounds using 2-inch floured biscuit cutter. Set 1/2-inch apart on prepared baking sheets. Brush with cream or milk for a rich sheen. Bake until scones are golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.

I baked this recipe exactly as it is written and they turned out delicious. I don't know why the other review said the baking time and temp was wrong. Crisy on the outside, light inside. I used fresh Meyer lemons from our tree. I made lemon glaze with lemon juice, and confectioners sugar and drizzled it on top. I will make these again.

The degrees for the oven is off. That and the time. When the timer beeped, the scones were crispy on top and raw in the middle. I turned the oven down and cooked for probably another 15 minutes. I would start this recipe at 350 degrees, and maybe 20-25 minutes.
Actually, if you look at other scone recipes you'll see that the temp/time is pretty common. Scones are usually baked at 400F or above for a short amount of time (under 15 minutes typically).
