ingredients
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup diced celery
2 cups diced, cooked chicken
Sauce
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon dried savory
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup heavy cream
hot biscuits
directions
Add the melted butter to a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and celery and cook for 5 minutes or until they are just starting to soften.
Stir in the cooked chicken. Reduce the heat to low and let cook for 5 minutes.
For the sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook, stirring, until the mixture is smooth.
Slowly stir in the water and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it begins to thicken. Add the savory, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cream. Pour the cream mixture over the chicken in the skillet.
Let the mixture simmer for 15 minutes then serve spooned over hot biscuits.
