Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

Drumsticks are simmered in a spicy vinegar-soy mixture until tender and glazed.

1 cup water
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 clove garlic, peeled and lightly crushed but left whole
1 small hot pepper, seeds removed but left whole
8 chicken drumsticks, skin on
In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the water, vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and hot pepper. Bring to a boil then add the chicken drumsticks. Return the mixture to a boil then reduce the heat to a simmer. Let cook for 20 minutes, checking the chicken occasionally.
Increase the heat and cook, turning the chicken frequently, until the chicken is cooked and the liquid has turned into a glaze.
Remove the chicken drumsticks and place on a platter. Remove the garlic and hot pepper from the glaze and spoon the glaze over the chicken. Serve hot.

It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Maple syrup instead of sugar works fine! Love this recipe

Made this tonight and enjoyed it greatly. I served it over rice. The next time I make this, I will add 1 tablespoon of honey in addition to the sugar.
Sorry, we did not care for this dish. Found the sauce salty. Must be because of the vinegar and soy sauce.
Soy sauce is salty by definition. You could try the reduced sodium kind if you would prefer less salty flavor.

Great flavor, made it with boneless thighs and only a tablespoon of sugar. Definitely would make again.

This is a great dish! The chicken has a sweet and sour taste to it, with a nice zing from the peppers. The chicken turns nice and tender and falls right off the bone. It goes great over rice with stir fried vegeies. My dad said, "Better than BBQ sauce."
