30-60 minutes
ingredients
1 1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup pureed prunes (can use baby food!)
2 tablespoons oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ounces red food coloring
directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8x8 square brownie pan and set aside.
Sift the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Combine the remaining wet ingredients in a large mixing cup (or small bowl). Whisk thoroughly.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry, and mix just enough to combine all ingredients.
Pour the batter into the brownie pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Prick the center of the brownies with a fork or toothpick to test when it is done.
Allow to cool before slicing.

They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Ranking #1 in nearly every "favorite cookie" poll, the chocolate chip cookie is pretty much the go-to cookie of choice for both kids and grownups alike.
