Turtle Cookies Recipe

Serves/Makes: 3.5 dozen
Ingredients:
***CRUST***
2 cups flour
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup pecans, whole halves
***CARAMEL LAYER***
2/3 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
Directions:
For Crust: Mix flour, sugar and butter in bowl at medium speed for 2-3 minutes. Pat crust firmly into ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. Sprinkle pecans over crust.
For Caramel: Over medium heat, mix and cook stirring constantly until surface boils. Boil 1/2 minute and pour over pecans. Bake in 350 degree oven for 22 minutes until entire caramel is bubbly and crust is golden brown.
For Topping: Remove from oven, sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips. Allow chips to melt about 2-3 minutes. Swirl chips. Do not spread! Cool and cut into squares.
