Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

The ribs are first cooked in a seasoned water mixture and then baked, covered, in the oven until perfectly done. The double cooking process ensures they will be falling off the bone tender!
2 quarts water
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
8 country or farmer-style pork ribs (thick cut with little or no bone)
1 bottle (12 ounce size) hickory flavored barbecue sauce (or preferred flavor)
Combine the water, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large pan or Dutch oven.
Add the ribs, adding more water if needed to cover them.
Bring to a boil and let gently boil for 45 minutes, uncovered. They shouldn't be falling apart but they should be tender.
Remove the ribs from the water (do not discard the water yet) and place on a rack in a large baking dish or roaster pan.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Remove 1/2 cup of the cooking water and add it to the bottom of the baking dish.
Baste the ribs with the barbecue sauce so they are completely covered.
Cover the ribs with foil and place in the oven. Bake at 325 degrees F for 2 hours. If desired, remove the foil at the end of the cooking time and place under the broiler.

I didn't find these ribs salty depsite the mention from the other reviewer about the 2 tBS of salt. The ribs were super tender. I used a smoky molasses flavor of bbq sauce and it was really good.

Wonderful, fool-proof recipe. The best ribs I ever had -- anywhere! I followed the recipe precisely, except, I used only 1 tbs of salt instead of the 2 called for. Even my wife had seconds and she's a picky eater.
I made this tonight. I am frequently criticized for the amount of salt I eat, but I was stunned when I saw that the recipe called for 2T of salt. My thought was that since the meat was boiled in the salty water, perhaps it wouldn't be overpowered by it. I was wrong. The meat was rendered inedible, even for me. I'm shocked that no other reviewer said anything about the saltiness of this recipe. Other than that, the meat was tender and moist. Was anyone else bothered by the amount of salt?

I bought Country Style Pork ribs because they were on sale...then searched and found this recipe. I used HICKORY BBQ SAUCE. OH MY! SIMPLE to make and GREAT TASTING! The few my family did not devour at first sitting, I cut up and added to a canned pork and beans and extended them to an additional meal :} I can't wait to make them again!
