Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

under 30 minutes
ingredients
8 pieces (4 ounce size) ham steak
1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
non-stick cooking spray
directions
Remove any visible fat from the steaks. Coat the grill with cooking spray and preheat for 5 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine the applesauce, honey, ginger and cinnamon. Place the ham in the grill and top with the applesauce honey mixture. The applesauce honey mixture will melt and run into the drip tray.
Grill the ham for 3-4 minutes, or until heated through. Watch carefully to make sure the applesauce does not burn. To serve, place the ham on individual plates and top with the melted applesauce.
